Rates:
A flat-rate estimate will be provided before beginning a project, and the amount will depend on the parameters and depth of the project. Unless otherwise specified, the flat rate for a written piece includes one meeting (in person or electronic) and one round of revision. Any additional interviews, meetings, research trips, phone calls, or revisions are billed at an hourly rate.
Billing Procedures:
I require a purchase order number or an initialed agreement before I begin work. If the parameters of a project change, or if it involves much more time than estimated, I will inform you and we can renegotiate the rate. For a job with a flat rate of $500 or more, I bill for half of the total estimated cost when I begin the project and the rest upon completion. I submit the final invoice upon receiving client approval of the project. If I have not received any comments or revisions within a week of submitting a completed draft, I send the invoice. Payment is required within 30 days of the invoice mail date.
Project Termination:
Should the client choose to terminate the project (for any reason) at any time between the start date and halfway before the due date, any time I have spent on the project will be billed at an hourly rate. If the project is terminated after I have completed it, or at any time after the halfway point between the start and due date, the full flat rate will be billed.
Extras:
Incidental expenses such as international phone calls, postage, courier service, etc. are billed at cost. 20% extra is billed for rush jobs, and half of the total estimated cost is required up front before beginning a rush job for a first-time client.
